About this place
People who have tried Tomato’s okonomiyaki as takeaway describe it as fluffy, making it a natural place to start. The choices range from familiar pork, squid and prawn versions to suji-dama with beef tendon, cheese-topped okonomiyaki and Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki. One account says the restaurant cooks the okonomiyaki for diners, so there is no need to grill it yourself: simply wait for it to arrive at the table.
Another dish to look out for is Chī-toma: grilled tomato topped with cheese. One diner recommends it as a good accompaniment to drinks. There are plenty of other teppan-grilled plates to share, too, including gizzard and cabbage stir-fry, tonpeiyaki and Takino-yaki, described as a street-stall-style squid pancake. Yakisoba comes plain or mixed, with kimchi, or as a soba roll, giving you another main-dish option beyond okonomiyaki.
Tomato is described as suitable for solo diners, and offers both dine-in service and takeaway. One customer, however, notes that because each pancake is cooked to order, theirs took around 30–40 minutes to arrive. Allow extra time, or consider takeaway if you are in a hurry. The restaurant accepts cash only, so come prepared.
